4th of July in Dyersburg

The Murfreesboro Cole family took a drive across the state to visit the Dyersburg Cole family.

This was Kate's first long car ride and she slept through it like a champ while Mama finished up a book, Jacob watched videos, and Dada drove us all safely to our final destination.
All week Jacob was excited to go see Grammy and Gdaddy and of course the girls.  He arrived and quickly got to work!  He didn't miss a beat, he played fish with Ashley and made certain she laid them out just how he likes them.  If she erred, then he was quick to correct by pointing and yelling "this way this way".  Jacob will immediately let you know if one of the fish is out of order or askew.  He is very particular and makes it known.
While the girls were being bossed and led around, the remaining Cole men enjoyed some down time on the screened in porch.  The weather was just right to enjoy some ESPN, Tour de France, and of course the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Competition (Grammy's favorite).
Unfortunately, Kate and Mama were not awake to see the Dyersburg fireworks display, but the remaining Cole family members enjoyed some pre-show sparklers.
Jacob also roped the girls into some rousing renditions of "Ring Around the Rosie."
We love our lazy mornings at Grammy and Gdaddy's house.  Jacob can always count on Grammy to have a letter or number toy around.  This time Jacob loved the number puzzle and the letter fish.  He also played Legos with the girls and even drove cars all over the doll houses.  Luckily, no Barbie dolls or American Girl dolls were injured while Jacob was at the wheel.
Finally, the highlight of the weekend was swimming!!!  Jacob was timid at first, but warmed up to the pool in no time.  Especially after the girls made him laugh with their diving and basketball tricks.
And of course, baby Katie was well loved.
We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!
