St. Luke International Festival

St. Luke's Catholic Church had an International Fall Festival this weekend.  Babcia participated by making and selling many many many pierogi.  The rest of us ran in the inaugural 5K. 

 

We had a wonderful time and the small number of runners even got Mama a third place finish for her age group.  Yay!  Obviously Jacob crossed the line before all of the rest of us.  We are certain he was the first baby across and won his age division!

The fun continued when we tried out the military gear.

It doesn't seem like so long ago, but on September 22, 2007, our families and friends gathered with us to celebrate our wedding day.  It has been a quick, but wonderful 5 years.  We have been blessed by wonderful families and the best baby anyone can ask for.  If only we could push pause.

Jacob and Dada

Jacob was very excited to spend a few days with Dada while Mama was away on a work trip.

The first day Jacob was a little confused as to why Mama was not home.  Where is my Mama?

After spending his days with Babcia, our little man kept Dada busy in the evenings with lots of playing, running around, and eating pizza!  Jacob especially enjoyed going up and down the stairs...

at some point the pants came off and Jacob was a blur of activity...

Our little guy is on the move!

Jacob had so much fun with Dada that he was worn out and went right to sleep every night.

Thankfully Dada got to drop Jacob off at Babcia's house and take a break at the office. 

Still Growing

Jacob went to see Dr Perkins for his 15 month check-up.  We are a little off schedule so this is more like his 16 month check-up. 

Upon arrival, Brandon had to fill out a form asking about Jacob's developmental milestones.  One of the questions asked if Jacob could point to at least 2 body parts.  You better believe he could by the end of the day.  He could do it before the visit, but it had to be asked in Polish.  Good job, Babcia.

As you can imagine, Jacob is definitely growing.  He weighed in at 28.1 lbs which puts him in the 95th percentile.  Jacob is also 35 inches tall which is in the 98th percentile.

**Our little man loves pushing buttons.  Jacob loves to turn on the TV and ring the doorbell or push any sort of button. 

**He makes a wonderful car sound and loves his Winnie the Pooh airplane (it makes lots of loud airplane sounds and the propeller spins).

**Jacob likes his drum and tambourine.

**Being outside is still better than playing in the house.

**Laying still for a diaper change is NOT something Jacob wants to be bothered with. 

**Says uh oh and oh yo yoy.  Also, grumbles a little "no" sound when asked if he would like to come in the house in the evenings.

St. Louis + Dyersburg Vacation

Daycare closed while Babcia and Dziadzio vacationed in Alaska so we decided to have some fun of our own.  Monday Jacob had a play date with Abby, Kate, Jacob, Anna, and Eleanor.  He played so hard that he need a nap halfway through!

Wednesday we packed up the car and headed out on a family vacation to St. Louis.  Some of us drove, while others enjoyed the scenery, and still others spent most of the trip St. Louis napping.  I wonder which Jacob did?

We were up bright and early Thursday and enjoyed the St. Louis ZOO!  We had a great time and saw so many animals!
There were frogs......

and before you know it, we had spent a whole day and someone needed a nap!

After a delicious lunch at Pappy's BBQ and a nice long nap, we enjoyed the arch.  We liked it best from a distance and didn't even think about riding the elevator to the top.

Friday was a little rainy since hurricane Issac was moving in, but we made the most of it and enjoyed the Anheuser-Busch tour.
We got to see some Clydesdales and they were huge!

Next, we toured the brewery.

Jacob tried to grab some samples from the display case, but it was locked up pretty tight.

After the tour, Jacob enjoyed some pretzels and we discovered he really enjoys his pretzel.

In an odd coincidence, we went to see the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis after we toured the brewery.  What a beautiful church. 

We picked up a Christmas ornament to remember our trip.

All the touring made us a little hungry so we stopped for another round of BBQ at Bogart's.  Here we have Jacob studying the menu trying to decide between the ribs and the prime rib.  Both great choices.

Another great lunch in our bellies and we were off to see Grammy, G-daddy and the girls in Dyersburg!  Jacob slept the whole way from St. Louis to Dyersburg.  He must have been worn out from all the touring.

Thankfully G-daddy made a stop at the grocery store and stocked up on whole milk.  Jacob finished off a full half gallon in about a day and a half.

 and picked our noses? No, definitely not picking noses....

All too soon we had to head back home.

We had a great Labor Day weekend.
