5 Months

Jacob is 5 months old!!!!!  The biggest changes have come in the last few weeks.  He wakes up so HAPPY!  Jacob is all smiles in the early morning and babbles up a storm.  Laughing is common and very contagious.  Rolling over from back to belly has been perfected and occurs within 5 seconds of being laid down.  Gone are the days of laying Jacob on kitchen counters, but the play mat has gotten a whole lot of use.  He is mesmerized by the crib mobile and likes to hear its music which Brandon has dubbed "changing music".  Lastly, we are grabbing for everything!

He also loves to work his abs by lifting his legs in the air. Oftentimes, Jacob lifts those legs and drops them with all his might into the mattress. Of course the wrestling arena sound wakes him right up.  We've also noticed his toes are wet at times......hmmmmm.

Our baby is now definitely in size 3 and almost into size 4 diapers.

The convertible car seats have been purchased and are awaiting installation.  We are getting dangerously close to the 22 lb weight limit of the baby seat.....a weigh in will confirm this.  Of course we never thought this would happen so soon! 

Jacob's days are filled with babcia and they have a great routine.  They spend their days outside, eating, napping, playing and of course eating and napping.  Those naps are not to be messed with.  Our boy needs his sleep and goes to bed about 8PM.  He still wakes up a few times per night and makes a few peeps because he knows mom or dad will save him from the crib.  Many nights he likes to sleep as close to me as possible without crawling into my skin.
Oh and he is very much like his daddy in that he also plays well alone (but only in the mornings).  Evenings are reserved for being held.
We tried on a hat and some sunglasses and of course took baths.  Who knew it would be so fun!

There is no shortage of pictures being taken of our precious guy.  It is so hard to catch a smile on camera and it takes so much effort from Brandon and I, but every once in a while we are successful!

Babbling

Brandon and I spent a few days with Jacob while babcia and dziadzio were in Florida!  We took many walks and generally enjoyed our time with the little guy.  It seems like he gains a pound and grows an inch each day.

Brandon came through with some great pictures documenting their Wednesday and Thursday.  There were walks around the neighborhood, sporting goods store trips, a wooden spoon purchase, and apparently many outfit changes.  

Just a few nights ago, Jacob woke up around midnight and ate and then got a diaper change and then proceeded to babble to us for about 30 minutes.  He was very serious and obviously had lots on his mind.  Of course, you can't be angry because it really is so funny to hear all the babbling coming from him. He shows his contempt of us with sighs scattered throughout the one sided conversation.  I am sure it would have gone on for hours if Brandon hadn't gotten the paci and plugged him.

4 Months

August 26th marks 4 months with Jacob.  The time has flown by.

Jacob is very vocal.  He speaks Polish to Babcia and English to the rest of us.

His laughs are the greatest.

Jacob can almost get his entire hand in his mouth, but the teeth have not made an appearance yet.  Legs and feet are the newest discovery!  He likes to observe what is going on around him and doesn't love to be left without an audience.  He enjoys watching us from his high chair in the kitchen.  Rolling over is becoming common and we cannot believe that sitting up is next on the list.  Jacob is as shocked as we are. 

In terms of size, Jacob is impressive.  Clothing is best at the 6 month size and diapers are a size 2 or 3.  He is so big that I threw out my back while trying to lift him in the car seat.

Bath time has become a very vocal event and we broke out the larger towel and got some good laughs.

As per our 4 month doctor visit on September 12, Jacob weighs in at 20 lbs 3.5 oz and is 26.5 inches tall.  Dr. Perkins said something about him being in the 100th percentile for weight.  That's our healthy boy! 

Such a change from that tiny infant we came home with.  Good thing we already picked up that larger car seat!

Dyersburg Visit and Move

We spent Labor Day weekend in Dyersburg helping move Grammy and G-daddy into their beautiful new home!  We left Murfreesboro on Friday afternoon and made it to Dyersburg that evening.  Jacob napped and played in the car, but was ready to get out of the car seat.........and was not afraid to tell us (for the last 20 minutes of the drive).
Saturday started out with a leisurely walk through the neighborhood and then we got to work moving.  Jacob was instrumental in pulling together the pantry, alphabetizing the spice rack, and generally acting as a supervisor on the unpacking job.  He made sure G-daddy's collection of ear wax removal kits made it safely to the new house.  All the activity exhausted our little fella so he napped in his swing whenever he could.  Thankfully he was happy to finish out the evening with some towel folding.

Jacob was generally in a good mood and even had some good laughs while playing with Grammy.  Not to worry, he also showed his lungs are in working order by crying until his face was red.
Grammy gave us boxes of books and Jacob LOVES them.  Jen the Hen is becoming a personal favorite.  Hopefully the girls will outgrow more wonderful books over the years.  We had a great time in Dyersburg and cannot wait to get back to the new house in time for the family reunion!!

Uncle Paul took a few pictures of Jacob around his 3 month mark and they are just precious.  Some of them make him look like such a big boy.  He changes so much everyday and his smiles melt our hearts (even at 2AM).
