Jacob's September Art

September was all about the blue, squares, and the number 2!!!  We can't get much out of Jacob about his masterpieces, but if we act really excited he will smile and tell us what the item is.  In Jacob's own words here we have.......

Two, Blue, and Squares in crayon, marker, and paint, oh my!

There were many blue squares this month and I may have missed some, but you get the general idea of the types of blue squares that made it home.

Jacob also channeled his love for his little Katie and made her a ladybug...as well as a dinosaurs, and some bugs in a jar!  It looks like Jacob is a minimalist and applies the smallest bit of color......or he really isn't into coloring

Jacob also learned about Sports and made a football and possibly a kite (or just a square with a yellow string)....either way it is beautiful!!!  We are pretty sure he perfected his sponge painting skills on that football and possibly used a hole punch on the kite.  Genius!!!

Lastly, Jacob explored plants!  So much complexity in pasting the flower blossoms to the stems.

Preschool is so fun!

September Play

September was a beautiful month.  Kate is 6 months old and growing.  She is rolling over and reaching for everything!!!  Jacob is having fun in preschool and starting to hesitate a little more at drop-off.  Jacob would be much happier if he could just come in for playground time and then leave again with Babcia.  

On a side note, Jacob was walking to Communion with me and spotted a little girl in the pew.  When he got next to her, he smiled really big and put his face directly in front of her.  Luckily she recognized him and they shared a moment.  They must be school friends.  She knew his name, but when asked about her, he acted like we were speaking Chinese and would not comment.  As a rule, Jacob likes to keep his home life separate from his preschool life and does not mix the two.

Jacob has gotten really good at climbing playground structures.  We have really enjoyed the playground this year and Jacob has gotten very bold by climbing to the highest slides.  Dada would have been nervous!

Also, Jacob has started swim lessons.  So far, we practiced the basics like kicking and putting our face in the water.  We expect Jacob to make the next Olympics.....watch out Michael Phelps.

In September we had several worldly visitors, Uncle Paul came to visit all the way from Germany!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And, Uncle Z and cousin Paul came to visit from Poland!  Jacob and Kate sure do love having new people around.  And Jacob is super excited to take pictures with his family...especially when done on auto-timer!!

The big news for the Cole family is our official groundbreaking.  We were going to contract with Jacob to work on the job site, but his experience is mostly in Mega Blocks and they often collapse at about the 24 inch mark.  Plus his schedule is very full with preschool.  So far, Jacob has enjoyed the building process because he gets to run up and down the dirt piles while Kate just likes to be outside.

At the end of September we went to the TN Aquarium in Chattanooga and had a wonderful time.  We saw the penguins first and Jacob LOVED them.  Some penguins jumped in the water and made Jacob laugh.  He kept shouting "ready, set, GOOOOO", but the penguins didn't seem to want to listen.

And to cap off an exciting September, we celebrated our 7 year anniversary.  Seven very full and wonderful years have passed so quickly......everything seems to speed up now that we have Jacob and Kate to keep us on our toes and deprive us of sleep!  We love our little family!

6 Months Old

The months are passing so quickly and Kate is already six months old!  She rolls front to back and back to front, but she will protest as well.  She loves to be walked around and see what everyone is doing, but she does not care to have any attention from strangers as she finds them all to be suspicious.  She continues to think Jacob is a really funny guy.

Kate wears a size 2 diaper.  She is somewhere in the 3-6 months size of clothing.  She still fits into some 0-3 month and newborn outfits as some things are more generously cut.  And she feels strongly about organic things like using her thumb instead of a paci.

Kate has also been extremely busy mastering the skill of holding 2 objects at once and grabbing for everything within reach.  She likes to wave around her rattles, but does  not like it when they hit her in the head. 

Our sweet girl is also practicing sitting up, but we still prop her up for pictures.

During her 6th month Katie's agenda has also included being super cute!!

And six months has gone by in the blink of an eye. 

Happy Pants

Since the start of preschool, Jacob loves to be a helper.  Babcia put him to work rearranging furniture and he worked so hard pushing around the sofa and chairs.  At home, Jacob has even put away a few toys.  Don't get too excited since Jacob's desire to make messes is still stronger.

Jacob has also shown an interest in cooking or possibly just stirring and peeking into bowls.  Sometimes he gets a little overzealous with the stirring so many clean clothes are sacrificed.  I am not sure if you know, but it is very important to stretch before cooking.  Jacob demonstrates the appropriate positions below.  To reach the ideal poses, you have to be in the most non-restrictive clothing such as Spiderman underwear.

For preschool homework, the Cole family had to submit a family picture.  Thank goodness for camera auto timers. 

During the Labor Day weekend, we went to see Grammy, Gdaddy and the girls.  Kate got some one on one time with Jaden and Lane.

And Jacob had such a wonderful time and was so tired that he even had time to snuggle with Gdaddy.

Kate was her usual cute self.  She loved spending time with Grammy, beware that sudden flashes of light result in Kate making big eyes!

Our relaxing weekend included great food, some college football games and snuggle time with Dada.

Not to mention that Jacob acquired a new train from the Dyersburg Wal-Mart.  Jacob chose "Sleepen the Rocket" (really named Stephen the Rocket).  We had a wonderful and relaxing holiday weekend. 

Jacob's August Art

August was a full month with school starting and getting into a new routine.  Jacob loved school at first and now has settled into tolerating school.  Jacob has Babcia sign in at preschool and then he hangs his bag on his hook and is responsible for putting his lunch box in his cubby and also putting his folder into the bin.

Every day he comes home with art projects and sometimes announcements.  The preschool uses email to send out weekly bulletins to parents, but there is plenty of paper sent home. 

Jacob's first artistic rendering is on paper with crayon.  Notice the bold strokes and the daring use of color. 

August focused on the number 1, the circle shape and the color red.  When asked about the next pieces, Jacob explained he used glue to stick the gummy worm and the yarn to the paper.  How adventurous!

And for the last of our August art, Jacob was more colorful and used scissors to create these construction paper masterpieces.
