April was a big month for the Cole children.
Our sweet girl had surgery on her fingers and toes. None of us was too excited about the aftermath, but the doctor did a wonderful job. Katie came home the same day and was stuck in splints for a week! No baths and limited mobility do not make a happy baby, but Katie toughed it out and even did a good job wearing Jacob's tee shirts since that is about the only thing that fit over those huge wraps. And for a brief time everyone said Katie was such a pretty boy.
Over the weeks, the bandages got smaller and Katie resumed her mobility like it was nothing. And we were so happy that everything was healing as it should.
Katie's tiny stats at birth qualified her for the Early Intervention program. Kristina was our caseworker and Michelle was our therapist. We loved their visits, but Katie has been achieving all her developmental milestones (even with the bandages) so we didn't think there was a reason to continue. So Katie graduated from the Early Intervention system.
And then our finger surgeon said we needed occupational therapy soooooo just like that we were back in Early Intervention for therapy......and a different Michelle, but our same Kristina.
We also started COLE FAMILY DANCE NIGHTS!!!!! Jacob lines up in the same spot and does the same moves......judging by Jacob's moves, we are pretty sure he will not be going into dance as a career.....or we will be very concerned about his ability to make a living if he does choose it as a career. Our current favorite dance song Vance Joy's Riptide.
We also took a little trip to the zoo........Jacob channeled his inner park ranger and wore some cargo shorts with a baseball cap.....while Katie opted for rainbow pants and a fleece vest.
Jacob loved walking through the zoo, but only moderately cared about seeing the animals. It was pretty evident that we need to work on our animal identification skills when Jacob yelled out it's an elephant, but it wasn't.....and its a polar bear, but it wasn't. We had a good laugh. There is a great kangaroo exhibit and Katie would have loved to hug one of those.
We also got a carousel ride out of Dada and it was so fun!
In addition to the funny things said at the zoo, Jacob looked closely at my eye and told me "it is cracked". He said "Uh Mr Mama, you need a new one". Dr. Jacob has spoken.
Last but not least, Babcia's flowers are in full bloom and look beautiful! Too bad this is not genetic.
