Visitors

Jacob is quite popular and has had some very special guests stop in to see him.......

Melissa was only home for a couple days this summer before heading out to Wyoming, but she still found time to visit Jacob.

Melissa even brought Jacob a birthday present!  He was very excited to rip into some more paper and will look so handsome in his cute Ole Miss onsie. 

Later in the week, Annemarie came in from Germany.  We were very excited to see her and she made time to hold our sleeping baby. 

First Birthday Party

We had a beautiful weekend for a first birthday party and party we did!  Aunt Denise made the trip into town and our wonderful family joined us for this big occasion.

Jacob was so excited that he couldn't even nap, but he was such a good boy and loved showing off his new walking skills to an audience before he got busy opening presents.

We wasted no time in tearing into the gifts.....Jacob had perfected this skill since Christmas.

The best part of the presents was the paper and bubble wrap!

Surely the presents will be the most important part next year!

Babcia made a beautiful cake, but Jacob wasn't very interested in it or the singing.

 Partying is exhausting!

1 Year - April 26, 2012

Happy Birthday, Jacob!!!  You share this special day with two very special men and you made sure to give your Dada some birthday love at 4:00 this morning! 
You have grown so much this year.  We brought you home and you were so small and immobile and now look at you!  Running through the house all by yourself.  There is no stopping you!  You practiced walking for a couple months and decided you had it down.  In this first year you have amazed us with so many wonderful firsts. 

Such a silly boy.  You love to play.  You can roll around cars and trucks on the ground and you make a great car sound!    

Reading books or just flipping pages happens often.

You also love blocks.  You lead us to your room and sit down in front of the blocks where we build towers for you to destroy.  After a few minutes, you make your getaway crawling or walking to the door.  You sit down just out of eyesight and peek around the corner to see if we are watching and then you laugh, turn, and crawl away as fast as you can.

Just like your mama, you are a morning person. You play well by yourself when everything is fresh and you haven't seen it for a few hours.  You also love to throw things on the floor and pick them up again.  Putting items in containers or drawers and pulling them back out has been a favorite for a while, but we love watching you at work. 

And your favorite activity.................you LOVE to be outside.  A good gust of wind will make you laugh like it tickles.  And the grass!  Oh my, there is so much of it to pick at.  I just don't know how you will be able to get to it all. 

You LOVE Babcia and sometimes we wonder if you really want to come home.  She takes such good care of our little Jacob.  She has taught you so much and keeps you busy all day.  We are most impressed that you have never cried when we drop you off.  You wave bye bye, give kisses, and blow air through your lips.

You say mama, but we aren't sure if you are referring to your mama or if you just love that sound.
There isn't a food you turn down (and we are still staying away from eggs and peanuts).  Just last week you spotted some broccoli on the counter after your bath and you started squealing and reaching for it.  You also know where the yogurt and munchies live because these are your favorite snacks.  I am afraid candy will change your views on veggies, but at least you are on the right track now.

I cannot get enough of 1 year old Jacob!
